Cambridge Urban Adventure Race

Active Cambridge and Stars Orienteering are bringing CUAR back to Galt in 2019. Join the fun on the 5th of May 2019.

This course is for everyone including experienced orienteers, people who love to run and those who just want to get out and have a fun experience in a great atmosphere. Here is a great video describing the race from Get Out There Magazine:

Race Format

Teams will have a two hour time limit to visit as many checkpoints as possible in any order. Checkpoints will include a mixture of interesting sites, including urban landmarks and local parks. Some checkpoints will have questions to answer based on the location, others will have an electronic control to punch. All checkpoints are worth one point. Racers can run as far as they would like in two hours.

At the end of the race, teams will receive 1 playing card for every correct checkpoint question answered. Teams will be ranked based on their time and points accumulated. A prize will also be given for the best poker hand.

Schedule

9:00-9:30 Registration. Pick up your race maps, bibs, and timing stick.

9:40-9:50 Pre-race briefing. Everyone must be in attendance.

10:00 Race Start

12:00 Course closes.

Race Location

The race headquarters will be at the Theatre of the Arts, which is attached to the city hall in Galt. Please see the map below. Parking is available in the parking lot north of the Theatre of the Arts accessed by Cambridge Street.
